Panavision has taken delivery of the highly anticipated Sony PMW-F3 . This newly designed compact camera, with its Super 35 CMOS EXMOR branded sensor, is able to take both PL mounted lenses such as Zeiss and Cookes and the whole range of PV mounted spherical primes and zooms.
Coupled with its small compact form factor and its ability to shoot with Cine lenses make the Sony PMW-F3 the perfect B-Camera for those tight shots or on its own as it has a great high end look with its low end price point.

The Panavision Sony PMW-F3 Production & Hand Held kits are designed for the professional cinematographer in mind with Arri matte box, follow focus and Element Technica Mantis hand held rigs, with Panavision’s own modifications such as shoe adapter threads for on board monitoring, film plane tape hook and 12v power extender for accessories.

What makes the Sony F3 stand out from other mid range cameras and HDSLRs is its connectivity . The Sony F3 has HD-SDI output, producing a 10 bit uncompressed 4:2:2 signal and soon, Panavision will upgrade that feature to the dual link HD-SDI 10 bit uncompressed output at 4:4:4 colour sub-sampling, when Sony releases the upgrade boards. This will allow the camera to produce outstanding signal quality for high end compositing on special effects style productions.

The camera also records onto SxS cards with the industry accepted XDCAM EX format for easy acquisition and ingestion on professional editing platforms such as Final Cut Pro, Avid or Premiere.
